Porsche Macan GTS

The Macan is a compact luxury SUV from Porsche, which stands for “Porsche’s Compact Sports Vehicle.” The first-generation model was introduced in 2014 as a rival for the likes of the BMW X1 and Audi Q5. With the second-generation Macan, unveiled in 2017 and on sale since June last year, Porsche has increased its appeal once again by introducing new, more powerful engines, optional hybrid drivetrain, and ultraluxury variants. It’s an all-new model that slots in between the base standard version and top-of-the-line Macan Turbo. A mid-cycle facelift was introduced recently for 2019 but didn’t add many changes. However, there are still some things you need to know about the newest member of the compact luxury SUV segment – Read on.

New Porsche Macan GTS

The Macan GTS is the most powerful member of the Macan family with a reworked engine and suspension. It slots in between the Macan S and Macan Turbo. The GTS is available in two body styles – All-Wheel Drive (AWD) or Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD). The GTS is powered by a retuned 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine, which now develops 331 horsepower (245 kW). The maximum torque is 339 pound-feet, which is available from 1,600 rpm. These numbers are up by 25 and 51, respectively, compared to the previous model. The Macan GTS sprints from 0 to 60 mph (97 km/h) in 4.6 seconds, which is a tenth of a second quicker than the Macan S.

More Power, More Grip – The Drivetrain

The Macan GTS’s drivetrain has been retuned for greater performance and a more dynamic driving experience. The engine has been upgraded to deliver more power and torque, while the new Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system has been installed to optimize traction in all conditions. A standard Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system is included as well. The system can be programmed to adjust the damper settings four different times throughout the day according to the weather and road conditions. The GTS sports a manually adjustable suspension system with two different settings – Normal and Sport. The latter is fitted as standard and is meant for more spirited driving on pavement.

New Equipment, Plus Interior Changes

The Macan GTS is equipped with a 10-way power-adjustable sports steering wheel, a sports bucket seat for the driver, and an electric seat for the front passenger. The Macan GTS features a standard Porsche Communication Management (PCM) navigation system with extended navigation, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity, a Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound System, and a 14-way-adjustable sport seat. The GTS comes standard with 19-inch wheels, sports tires (P245/45 R19), and a standard Sport Design exterior body kit. Furthermore, the GTS has a few interior upgrades over the S – like a black headliner, seats with a GTS logo, stainless steel door sill plates with GTS inscription, and a GTS floor mat set.
